It is no secret that healthy people do not smoke, maintain their normal weight, exercise, and eat healthy. Some people try to make a big change in their life in one day, but when they find it difficult, they feel discouraged.

The secret to a healthy lifestyle is small, almost imperceptible changes. A glass of water in the morning, more physical activity, an optimistic outlook on life – these are the secrets you need. Small steps lead to big results!

1. Drink a glass of water in the morning

Get up first thing in the morning and drink a glass of water at room temperature. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, add a slice of lemon or lime to your glass. Water cleanses all the body’s systems, stimulates the metabolism, and flushes out toxins. Some people even say it helps them lose weight.

2. Get enough sleep

When you don’t get enough sleep, you feel tired and angry. Lack of sleep can lead to physiological problems, especially heart problems. Studies have shown that adults need eight hours of sleep a day. However, everyone is different and sleep needs can vary from 6 to 10 hours. If you feel sleepy between 4pm and 6pm, you may not be getting enough sleep.

3. Exercise in the morning!

Instead of taking a nap in the morning, exercise. Stretching your legs and arms promotes blood flow to your muscles, provides extra oxygen, and helps you relax after a hard day’s work.

4. Choose the right snacks

French fries, salted peanuts, cookies, and other delicious snacks are not good for you. They contain too much fat, salt and sugar. Choose raw nuts, fresh fruits and berries. They are rich in vitamins and minerals.

5. Eat your breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for those who want to lose weight. If you skip it, you will be hungry before lunch and will nibble on anything you can find. According to a 2003 study by the National Heart Association, people who eat breakfast are significantly less likely to be obese than those who don’t.

6. Take a walk every day

We all know we need to move more, but most of us don’t have the time or inclination to do so. Take every opportunity to move – take the stairs more often than the elevator, walk with a friend, or walk your dog. Studies show that you only need to move 15 to 18 kilometers per week (about 125 to 200 minutes per week) to keep your heart healthy.

7. Communicate

Lonely people are more likely to get sick and die sooner. People who have no friends are more likely to be stressed, depressed, and generally less physically active. In addition, experts say that a person’s social behavior can affect his or her health and career potential years later.

8. Read the ingredients of your favorite foods.

You can use the ingredients list to determine whether the food you buy contains unhealthy or unnatural substances. There are hundreds or thousands of unhealthy products on the market, and it is impossible to remember every one of them. Fortunately, there is plenty to read on the Internet, so read carefully the ingredients of any product or cosmetic you buy. Harmful ingredients can cause a variety of illnesses, allergic reactions, and even cancer.

9. Seek adventure

Try doing something with family or friends, such as hiking, skiing, canoeing or biking. Any new hobby will help you relax and enjoy life. You will also meet people with the same interests as you and make many wonderful and helpful acquaintances. Enjoy your hobbies and remember that happy people live longer.

10. Love life!

Be more relaxed and don’t get distracted by unnecessary things. Don’t take things too seriously. Smile, love yourself and others, and always look on the bright side of things!
